Exercise 2: Preflight Training,

2. Put a dot in the center and imagine this imagine this dot to be your present position, you know where you are now at your table or desk about to make a simple diagram.

3. Place your pencil on the dot and start to make a slow tight spiral. Begin:

Spiral out SLOWLY; imagine yourself moving away from your present position, that's right you got it, 5 feet, 10 feet STOP. Lift up your pencil for a moment. Look around and identify an object approximately ten feet away. That's it, do it, look around your room; first thing you see. LOOK with your eyes. Write down what it is that you first see, make a quick decision.

4. Now with your pencil go back to expand your spiral.

Spiral out SLOWLY; imagine yourself moving away from your present position, that's right you got it, 100 feet, 500 feet , 5,000 feet, 10 miles. STOP. Lift up your pencil for a moment. Now try to remember a place approximately 10 miles away. something you have gone past in your travels. First impression. Write it down.

5. Now with your pencil go back to expand your spiral.

Loosen up the spiral somewhat and draw a little faster; imagine yourself moving away from your present position, that's right you got it, 20 miles, 100 miles, 1,000 miles. STOP. Now imagine a place or an object 1,000 miles away--maybe someplace you've been or someplace you would like to go someday. Write it down.

6. Now with your pencil go back to expand your spiral.

Loosen up the spiral somewhat and draw a little faster; imagine yourself moving away from your present position, that's right you got it, 1,000 miles, 10000 miles, 100,000 miles, 1 million miles STOP. Now imagine a place or an object one million miles away. Imagine a place out in space. First impression. Write it down.

7. Now with your pencil go back to expand your spiral.

Draw a little faster; imagine yourself moving away from your present position, that's right you got it, 100 million miles, a light year out, WAY OUT TO INFINITY. STOP. Now imagine a place or an object one at infinity. First impression. Write it down.

8. Now with your pencil go back to expand your spiral.

Zoom your spiral out until it goes off the page. STOP. Imagine something/anything beyond infinity. Write it down.

Look at what you wrote down at stages 7and 8. There is a secret in this exercise, profound. Try to guess what it is.
