The "behind-the-scenes" treasury tokenization event is the official launch of the DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS), which occurred on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC)—the massive backbone entity that holds over $114 trillion in assets under custody for U.S. markets—officially switched on a system that allows major Wall Street banks to turn traditional U.S. Treasury bills, notes, bonds, and select blue-chip stocks into blockchain-based tokens.

Also:

The GENIUS Act and the OCC’s final implementing rules officially go live on January 18, 2027.
This creates what the industry is calling a "compliance cliff" or "87-day squeeze", because the final rules were just published on October 21, 2026, leaving issuers very little time to adapt.
Here is what happens when the law goes live in January 2027:
• The Prior-Approval Mandate: Starting January 18, 2027, it becomes illegal to issue a payment stablecoin in the United States without explicit federal or state regulatory approval.
• The Narrow Waiver Window: Existing stablecoin issuers operating in the U.S. can request a temporary waiver to continue operating while their applications are reviewed, but only if they submit a "substantially complete" application to the OCC by the January 18 deadline. New entrants do not get this grace period.
• Immediate Reporting Requirements: Under the OCC's framework, mandatory weekly reporting on reserve asset composition begins almost immediately on January 25, 2027. First quarterly financial reports will be due March 31, 2027.
• Substantial Non-Compliance Penalties: Issuing tokens without approval or a valid waiver after January 18 carries severe civil and criminal penalties.

Yeah, you nailed it.

We've known about CBDCs for years, and we've known about; "Never let a crisis go to waste." for decades.

It was only a matter of time; I did get lucky in picking it here at AE first though.

So, how are you going to spend your first USDC?

I'd offer to refurbish electronics for free, 50 milligrams of gold-plated cable connectors and 150 milligrams of silver solder per fooked tv is worth more than all the trace elements in your body; aka $3.50 Aud!

Yes, people in Oz actually worked out the value of trace elements in a human body...
