The day the cell phones died
(Fade from black. Herman's Hermit's song plays and then ends.
Crowd scene. Citizens everywhere shaking the phones in their hands. Pausing at some point. Staring in blank mindless vacuous uncomprehension.
A never completing circle, an ouroburus chasing it's tail endlessly displayed on every cellphone
Everywhere.
Cell phones had died.
And in an instant
humanity, the sum total of everything human ,all that ever was and now never would be , was
Derailed.

Richard Dickson.. hero. Devil. Prolly saved his life at the cost of thousands of Hanoi innocents.
Operation Linebacker, the B52 elephant walks , pounding Hanoi into non surrendering submission.
Saved his life.
A 23 draft number and an almost certain call up/certain death.. or worse..
Didn't happen.
Spiro, katzenjammers, liddy, west african water baloon pegged, heidi, sallow flu faced , victory near crying quavering sickly smiles, pat, julie, ike..
Richard was gone, left the stage.
And he missed it.
Never again.
Sharp from blur window scene transition.
2024 private jet view, tires contact macadam.
Muffled screech.
Retirement day.
40 year bye bye corporate empire ball room speech and out.
AllThatsBreaking.com the baby he builts from radio, not his no more.
Time to tend the vegetable marrows and bee hives.
All things must pass drifted through his drifting dreamy
mind.

So, current plot summary
The story of a communications obsessed media mogul who , half way thru his retirement goodbye to all (bilbo baggins bye bye speech..)
((told from his 2024 point of view, in his voice.))
All global/satellite electronic communication systems fail.
A sort of carrington event moment, butt, only the comms. All other infra structure survives.
Why this happens, the cause of, is never actually explained.
Its a story of chaos and creative multi generational ethnic cross generational regrouping and re inventing.
Hint:Wired comms; telephones, telegraphs, letters, magazines analog 50s computers switch logic.. all return as discarded heros!
All the while a great global threat looms, unexplaned, humankind must collectively regroup reinvent and re coordinate
Or earth.
Fails.

The posting above sort blew the lid off of the cell phone collapse idea/scenario.
Although it is concievable that a gigantic AGI pulls antimatter particles out of Cern collider creating an antimatter golem of sorts to protect itself from being shut down as an existential threat to all human kind..
